ArtISTS THAT I FOLLOW*
We obviously all have different tastes and styles that catch our eye but I know even if I'm not particularly drawn to or work in a certain style there's always something to learn from other artists. That never means to steal even if Picasso said "good artists borrow, great artists steal."
*a lot of the artists below have Domestika courses that I have taken. I don't get anything from Domestika in case you're wondering.
Felix Scheinberger
I love his looseness with ink and wash. Check out my section on art books for reviews. I loved his Domestika course too!
Koosje
Koene
@koosjekoene is another urban sketcher but also so much more. I love her looseness with ink and watercolour but she also works in mixed media. Her Draw Tip Tuesdays on YouTube are great. She also offers workshops in person and online.
Maru
Godas
@marugodas is also an urban sketcher (I know there seems to be a theme!). I love her bright colours. She tends to work in mixed media with gouache and acrylic being a go-to. I've also taken her gouache and bookbinding Domestika courses.
Eleanor Doughty
@herbcoil Yep, you guessed it another urban sketcher. I've also taken her Domestika course and once a month she and Jenny Adam do a Zoom live Street View World Tour draw along often with guests doing demos.
Jenny Adam
@ronkiponk I love this artist's very simplified mixed media work. She also has a course that I took on Domestika.
Inma
Serrano
@inmaserranito is from Seville, Spain and often draws flamenco dancers as well as a travel urban sketcher. Again, I took her course on Domestika.
Sarah
van Dongen
@sarahvandongenillustrations is an illustrator who studied children's book illustration. I love her figure and domestic interior drawings, often using herself and her home as a subject. She is from Amsterdam and has 3 Domestika courses.
Laura McKendry
@lauramckendry_artI love, love, love this artist's work. Her style is so loose and beautiful. I especially love her animal and bird illustrations. I found out about her through Domestika. She also offers courses at her studio in London, UK.
Lapin
@lapinbarcelona Simply known as Lapin, this French illustrator is based in Barcelona. He usually focuses on urban sketching/reportage work in his staple old French ledgers as his sketchbooks. And yes, he has courses on Domestika.
Katie Woodward
I love @ramblingsketcher 's small images of NYC and beyond. She works in watercolour as an urban sketcher.
Daniel
Pagans
Yet another urban sketcher and one from Barcelona. I love his loose sketches from there and around the world. @danielpagans
Sam
Marshall
@sammarshallart I love this artist's linocut work (and her painting and sketches). I highly recommend her book on the subject (reviewed in my art book reviews).
Rita
Sabler
@ritasabler Again an urban sketcher I really admire. I think I'm signed up to do a workshop with her during the Urban Sketchers symposium. Will update.
